Happy Book Birthday to DEEP, DEEP DOWN & GIVEAWAYS!

Video Posted on Updated on

Hello world!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I wish you health, joy, compassion, and of course, love.

January is a big month for me. My new STEM book DEEP, DEEP, DOWN: The Secret Underwater Poetry of the Mariana Trench illustrated by Juan Calle and published by Capstone Editions, a Capstone imprint, sailed into our universe on January 1! This book was a labor of love, and combines my two biggest passions: science and poetry.

Here’s a summary: Deep, deep down, at the very bottom of the ocean, lies a secret world. Through lyrical narration, this spare-text STEM picture book takes readers on a journey to a place very few humans have ever been–the Mariana Trench. The imagined voyage debunks scary myths about this mysterious place with surprising and beautiful truths about life at Earth’s deepest point. DEEP, DEEP, DOWN: The Secret Underwater Poetry of the Mariana Trench shows a vibrant world far below, and teaches readers how interconnected our lives are to every place on the planet.

And….I’m kicking it off with 2 awesome giveaways!

This book looks and sounds wonderful-the title, the cover, the poetry! It’s interesting what sparks us to write what we do. My goal this year is to craft 30 story ideas in January with StoryStorm and then to actually write at least one draft or complete story every month in 2023.

Ah congrats, Lydia! What an accomplishment! I can’t wait to read it (the teacher in me is already imagining my read-aloud voice).

My goal for 2023 is to query and hopefully land a deal for my debut MG novel! I’ve been working on it for 4 years – what a ride! Whatever happens, it’s been a rewarding journey and I’ve learned so much. And regardless, I’ll keep writing!

Yay! Congratulations, Lydia! I’m so excited to read your new book! Fascinating!

I’m planning on getting back to the love I have for writing. With all of the “other stuff” we must do as writers, my time has disappeared and I haven’t had time to enjoy writing. That’s my dream for 2023! Happy New Year!

I’m so excited for DEEP, DEEP DOWN! Congratulations, Lydia! My writing goals this year are to do some research on a nonfiction idea I came up yesterday at the start of Storystorm, to work on revisions on a couple of projects, and to hopefully work on a longer work (maybe MG?) this summer during my summer break. I hope your 2023 is amazing, Lydia! ❤
